Happy 28th Chris & Shannon! A Summer Worth Remembering

I have always believed that you learn the most about people when there isn't a deadline looming over them.

Anyone can appear committed when the cameras are rolling, when the meetings are scheduled, or when there is another project waiting to be announced. Character, though, reveals itself in the quiet seasons.

This summer has been one of those quiet seasons.

As Chris and Shannon celebrate 28 years of marriage, they've done something that I honestly wish more people had the courage to do, they chose each other, even when others tried to tear them apart.

Not because there wasn't work to be done. Not because there weren't exciting ideas waiting on the shelf. Simply because they understood that there are seasons when the greatest investment you can make isn't into another project or new relationship, but into the people God has already entrusted to you.

Working alongside Chris for some time now, I've watched him pour himself into meetings, films, music, writing, community projects, and countless encouraging conversations with people searching for hope or direction. Yet I've also noticed something that has quietly shaped the culture around him.

When family or friends need him, work waits.

That isn't a slogan. It's simply how he lives.

It's one thing to talk about putting Christ first and family second. It's another thing entirely to watch someone actually make those choices when nobody would blame them for doing the opposite.

I find that deeply encouraging. Twenty-eight years of marriage isn't built on grand gestures. It's built on thousands of ordinary days. Shared meals. Forgiveness offered quickly. Conversations after difficult days. Laughing over inside jokes that no one else understands. Choosing one another again and again, even when life becomes complicated.

Like every couple who has walked together for nearly three decades, Chris and Shannon have experienced seasons that tested them. Their story hasn't been untouched by hardship, misunderstanding, or people who questioned what they were building. Yet what has always impressed me is that they never seemed interested in proving anyone wrong.

They simply kept building.

Over time, that quiet consistency becomes its own testimony.

As many of you know, Chris founded the Truly Wed Mission because he believes marriage is far more than a ceremony or legal contract. He often describes it as one of God's greatest ministries, a daily opportunity to reflect patience, sacrifice, grace, and covenant love.

Watching him and Shannon celebrate twenty-eight years together reminds me that the message has always started at home long before it was ever shared publicly.

Professionally, this has also been a healthy pause.

After an intentionally quiet summer, we'll likely see a brief return to project development during September and October before slowing down again through the holiday season. Rather than rushing announcements simply because the calendar says it's time, the focus has shifted toward building thoughtfully and sustainably.

If you've been wondering about the future, don't worry, there are exciting things ahead.

In many ways, 2027 feels like the horizon we're all walking toward. Several creative projects continue to mature behind the scenes, and I genuinely believe they'll benefit from the extra time. Some stories simply aren't meant to be hurried.

For now, though, summer always brings healing and purpose.

It's been filled with family dinners, conversations without agendas, moments away from computers, and the reminder that life isn't measured only by what we produce, but by who we become while producing it.

Personally, I've find that refreshing.
